| A Suitable Case for ... WAGS |

At
Tring
& District MRC’s annual exhibition, TaD-Rail 2008, my wife Sheila
assisted
with the refreshments - how would we manage without them? During a
pause for
breath she took herself on a tour of the 25 exhibitors present. Her
award for
‘Most Enterprising in Show’ was Ian Redman’s exhibit - Small ‘N’ Gauge
Working,
a series of miniature schemes in Aluminium Cases, Lunch Boxes, and CD
Cases. “I could do one of those”, she
later related to me. Sheila has long been into ‘Crafts’, including Lace
making,
Machine Knitting, Watercolour Painting, and Gift Cards. I have on many
occasions been very pleased to utilise various elements of her tools
and
materials for my own layout constructions. Therefore my stocks of ‘Bits
and
Pieces’ were fully available to assist with her project.
An
Aluminium
case was found on eBay. The only input I had to the fine result was to
cut the
plywood, assist with track laying, and solder the connections to the
rails.
Materials used were from Metcalfe (Station), Scalescenes (Platforms and
Shop/Houses coverings), Woodland Scenics (Autumn Tree Kit), Ratio
(Level
Crossing gates). All the other materials were from my stocks of ‘bits’.
I am
really
proud of her splendid efforts. Sheila will be in the catering team
again at
Tad-Rail 2009 on October 10th. Come along and you might be
able to
see her effort on show at the exhibition. Don Pearson. Click on the thumbnail to enlarge the photograph |
